Richard Newby

(Team Leader)


Richard is originally from Ludlow on the Welsh border. He is married to Emma and they have two daughters; Freya and Amber. Before joining us, he spent a year working with street children in Bolivia with Youth With A Mission. He began working with us in August 2005 as his placement whilst studying on a Youth and Ministry Diploma course. He finished his studies and has been working with us ever since.


Chris Hembury

(Youth & Community - CMS Mission Partner)


Chris is from Jersey, he is married to Anna and they have two children, Elijah and Kavita. He has spent 14 years as a Butcher, 1 year as a Caretaker, 1 year studying for a Diploma in Youth Ministry (Applied Theology) and has been working with Hull YFC since November 1997. Chris stepped down as Team Leader in 2015 and along with Anna is now responsible for Matt's House; our house of mission.



Anna Hembury

(Youth & Community - CMS Mission Partner)


Anna is originally from India. She has over twenty years of experience in youth and community work. Anna's role includes supporting Hull YFC's already established work on the Boulevard as well as developing other work in the community.




Emma Newby

(Family Support)


Emma is originally from Kent, but moved to Hull after marrying Rich. She completed her Masters in Social Work at Hull Uni and now works part-time as our Family Support Worker. Emma is currently developing opportunities to support the families of the children and young people who attend our weekly activities.


Amy Hayes

(Youth & Children)


Amy is from Portadown in Northern Ireland. She studied Theology at Queens university and has an Associates Diploma from Belfast Bible College. Before joining us, Amy worked as a Children and Family Worker for a parish as well as serving in other youth ministries.


Sue Adlard

(Admin & Community)


Sue joined HYFC in November 2012. She moved to Hull from Lincoln in 2006 after remarrying and has been working as an Administrator at Respect and at the Crisis Pregnancy Centre. After looking for further employment Sue joined HYFC as an Administrator and has since become involved in the Breakfast Club and with the family work too. Sue and her new husband John have six children between them, all grown up and living away. "My hope is that I can provide a great admin service to the Team and maybe in the future be more involved in some hands on work; you never know what God has in store!"
